Hello! Hope you're all having an awesome Monday...and a spooktacular Halloween. Mine's been pretty intense so far, thanks to the Syfy channel. Their movie lineup is giving me chills! I've had at least three jump scares already. Between that and the coffee, I'm a little jittery.
“If even one person falls in love with my book, I’ll be happy.”
That’s what I told my husband the day Gambit was released. After years of investing time, energy, and passion into a story that came straight from my heart, I knew that if even one reader ended up loving it, the whole thing would be worth it.
It’s funny how real-life things work their way into a story. No matter how wild or bizarre a path my imagination leads me down, something personal always pops up along the way. It could be a thought that inspires me or makes me smile. Or, it could be something that ends up as part of the journey.
If you’ve read Gambit, then you’ve unknowingly been exposed to quite a few of my personal thoughts and experiences. Here are a few favorites:
Most people don’t know this. If you asked them to compose a list of hazardous occupations, writing probably wouldn’t make the top ten, or even the top hundred. In fact, it might not appear on the list at all. And why would it? Aside from stabbing yourself in the eye with a pen or dumping hot coffee in your lap, what could possibly be dangerous about writing?
One of the coolest things about blogging is the search for images. That feeling you get when you pair your latest outpouring with the perfect meme? Or find a quote that totally drives home the point you were trying to make? Yeah, that’s hard to beat.
And sometimes, as I’m rifling through the treasure trove of images that Bing or Google has to offer, I’ll stumble across a keeper. Like this one:
